[Again he mutters this as filler while his brain composes this picture. He can see it. It's not an application he's ever needed to think about before, but it's directly adjacent to what he uses fairly regularly. He builds and then rebuilds the schematic in his head, composing it at the same time as he composes this next sentence:]

I can do that—kind of. It'd be easier if a third array acted as the killswitch. If you want the first two always open, to draw excess energy away, they'll have to be activated by that energy, so I'll have to build them with a low activation threshold so they open before things build up. And they'll need to be weak enough not to pull the entire thing out of this dimension if that level fluctuates. A third array with a higher activation threshold and more powerful collapse . . . I can put that on the bottom so there's no question it'll only activate at a certain danger level. —I usually need to personally activate these with my own magic, you know? But I don't see why I couldn't alter them to take in different energy forms if there's a constant source. Which there will be!

[ She nods along to what he says; within her mind’s eye, she’s already revising the draft of the cell she envisions. To her, the biggest hurdle is not producing that energy or working with his, but rather working within the confines of this world. She is certainly not the only one whose abilities remained capped. Working together with something might help. ] A third array? Mm, I like that idea. Better safe... [ Better safe than sorry. ]

And ideally, the metrics used to activate a kill switch should be set to trigger for what is intolerable for a human— [ —whether that metric be temperature, pressure, or radiation—] or what its encasing and ship cannot tolerate....

[ She pauses. The source would be a constant supply, but that doesn’t mean a ship would take the same level of energy to power itself all the time. Going faster takes more energy, stalling would require less, and so forth. His wormholes would have to adapt to the needs of the ship. Or engine. ] I may be able to assist with scaling down and stabilizing those portals if you need it.

[He looks up at her upside-down. It's been obvious for a long time that Pyra is extremely skilled in . . . well, he has no idea of the extent of her knowledge. It seems to widen every time he finds out something new about her. But working together on something that closely will be entirely different again. Someone so intelligent, touching his work—what really stands out to Magolor is that he doesn't feel especially threatened by this or possessive of it for once. There's no competitive spirit in Pyra, about this kind of thing. There is one in Magolor, but the flame of it is quick to die around her straightforward, earnest need for help and desire to do things right, and learn from them.]

That'll probably come in handy. There's not much you can't do, huh? I'm impressed!
